Tragic Crash Claims Life of 11-Year-Old Girl in Stockton

An 11-year-old girl tragically died after a car crashed into a tree in Stockton on Sunday morning.

Stockton Police responded to the scene around 7:45 a.m. on El Dorado Street, near St. Mary's High School. The crash involved a vehicle that collided with a tree, leaving five girls—ages 11, 13, 14, 14, and 15—and a 13-year-old boy injured. All were taken to nearby hospitals.

Queen Norwood, the 11-year-old girl, sadly passed away from her injuries. The other five were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

“It was a very disturbing morning and a very unfortunate incident,” said Omar Edhah of the Stockton Police Department.

In memory of Queen Norwood, her loved ones gathered on North El Dorado Street for a balloon release. Her family has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover her memorial service costs.

The Stockton Unified School District is offering counseling and support to students and staff affected by the tragedy. Superintendent Dr. Michelle Rodriguez expressed condolences, stating, “Anytime we lose a student, it affects the entire SUSD community. We have counseling and support available and ask everyone to join us in sending peace and comfort to the family during this difficult time.”

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and it is not yet clear if an adult was present at the scene.

High-Speed Crash in Granite Bay, California Claims Lives of Two Local Teens

A devastating crash early Sunday morning in Granite Bay has claimed the lives of two young men, leaving a community in mourning. The incident happened around 3:15 a.m. on Eureka Road, just east of Bridle Path Lane, when a 2022 BMW M3 lost control, veered off the roadway, and collided with a tree. The impact was so severe that the car split in half. The Placer County Sheriff’s Office identified the victims as 19-year-old Kai Gini and 18-year-old Keven Garcia. Both were former students of the Roseville Joint Unified School District, which has since acknowledged the heartbreaking loss. According to the California Highway Patrol, speed is believed to have played a significant role in the crash.
